Loro Parque
From Puerto De La Cruz you have easy access to Loro Parque. Most people make their way down to the Hotel Catalonia Las Vegas and take the free mini train to the park. It is approximately 5 Euros to take the Taxi from the El Tope and avoid the queues for the train. Loro Parque offers a wide range of shows from Dolphins, Sea Lions and Orca Whales which have just joined the park from the USA in 2006. The park is not a Zoo or simply Parrots, it's a full day's entertainment for only 31 Euros per adult and 20 Euros for children aged 6 to 11 (2009 prices).
Once inside the park, you will find plenty of facilities to have a meal or drink, all at high street prices. You are not ripped off for food and drinks once inside the park, unlike similar parks in the UK. The Penguin facility and Shark Tunnel are well worth a visit as well as the Sea Lions, Orca Whales and Dolphins. No extra charge is made for the shows once inside the park.
If you did take the mini train to the park, be aware that there is a lot of "pushing and shoving" to get on the return trains to Puerto De La Cruz, if you leave the park late in the afternoon. We suggest the Taxi!
The Hotel is available to book direct, however visitors from the UK can buy a full hassle free package holiday from TUI
